Bushwick Avenue

It was the desire of the client to return the vinyl-clad facade of this house to its original Victorian form. There were no remnants of the Victorian details beneath the siding—all that existed were the tax photographs, and clues from other buildings in the neighborhood. Using the tax photographs, an orthagonal view of the building was reconstructed from which we produced a set of historic construction documents of the facade details. Using these drawings, a master carpenter built the window pediments, the entrance canopy, the railings, the cornice, and a variety of moldings. The blue and cream colored siding is Hardie board.
